As a child, Judine always dreamed of dancing on Broadway. At the time Broadway seemed more than a dream and a subway ride from the Lafayette Garden Housing Projects in Bedford Stuyvesant Brooklyn, N.Y. where she was raised. She discovered her love for dance when her next door neighbor Sarina began teaching her dance routines in her living room and realized that Judine was not just a promising dancer but had lots of personality, determination and drive. Judine’s mom Edith quickly took the advice of Sarina and enrolled her in a class at the Asambi Omí Laye Dance Cultural Workshop under the direction of Ms. Linda Walker. Taking class once a week was all Judine needed to confirm that she was headed in the right direction. By the time Judine became a member of the Asambi Omí Laye Dance Cultural Workshop, she knew most of the routines, was placed front and center and chosen to perform solo works. This of course boosted her confidence even further and the rest is… history. After combining the music, movement and the mirror, a unique and fantastic artist was beginning to emerge. With the amazing and never-ending support of her inspirational and positively motivating mom, her three brothers and guardian angels Quentin, Michael and the late Wayne Hawkins and her no nonsense Grandma Fitchette who kept them all on the straight and narrow, Judine was ready to take life by the horns and run! Judine not only participated in every musical production during Elementary and Junior High School, she managed to maintain an honors level of academic achievement and graduated President of the Honor Society at the High School of Performing Arts in New York City. She was then awarded a Merit Scholarship to study at The Ailey School.
Judine is now an accomplished Broadway performer and has performed in original Broadway cast productions of “Hairspray” (in which she is featured as member of the sensational singing trio The Dynamites), “The Life,” “On the Town,” “Crazy for You” and “Late Nite Comic.” She has also performed at the world famous Radio City Music Hall as a Rockette. Her television credits include The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Late Nite with David Letterman, The Today Show, The Early Show (CBS), Good Morning America, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Jerry Lewis Telethon and the Tony Awards.
Judine’s life journey is an inspirational story not to be missed. To meet her is a pleasure; to see her in action is to be inspired.
